There are a handful of high school girls soccer varsity teams that will make significant run to the state championship.

Last year, Traverse City West won the district title, and the titans are hoping to do better under new leadership.

Traverse City West Girls Varsity Soccer Head Coach Ed Fantozzi has built a reputation as becoming one of the better soccer coaches in Northern Michigan.

Before coming to TC West, he was the head coach at Harbor Springs and Boyne City. In his 10 years at those two schools, his teams won five Lake Michigan Conference championships, three district championships, two regional championships and B-C made it to state final in 2021. Fantozzi says his Titans have the elements to win.

Last year, Traverse City West won the district title, and the last five Big North championships. Fantozzi says those goals are reachable, but his priorities are to make sure, the Titans get better everyday to reach their highest level.
